What is Google Penalty?

Google Penalty is a type of punishment given by Google when a website breaks the guidelines of Google. This is an advantage for the other websites that are following search engine guideline and a negative impact on an effected website’s search ranking by search algorithms or manual updates.

Major Google Updates:

Google Panda: Google doesn’t give their name to any updates, it is given by Webmaster World users, but Panda is one of the algorithm updates that names given by Google Engineers. Google Panda is an update against the duplicate launched on February 23, 2011 when 12% of search results were affected.

The last official Google Panda algorithm update was affected on July 17, 2015 with its 4.2 version, but now it is a part of Google’s core ranking algorithm.

Google Penguin: It was 24th April in 2012 when Google finally rolled out the webspam update named Penguin. This update was launched against low quality backlinks, keyword stuffing and over optimization.

Last time the Google penguin update was effected on October 17, 2014 with its 3.0 version. The upcoming penguin update may be in effect on March 2016.
